Man loses nose in circumcision ceremony

A traditional circumcision ceremony in South Africa went awry over the weekend when a policeman had his nose bitten off.
The policeman had tried to put paid to an argument between a man and his family during the ceremony in the Eastern Cape province, when the man attacked him, biting off his nose.
The aggrieved policeman then shot the 30-year-old man in the chest, the SAPA news agency reported.
Both are now recovering in hospital.
Circumcision is a rite of passage for some South African boys who go through a lengthy initiation before undergoing the procedure.

Noirin said: “Everyone’s been moaning Big Brother doesn’t count for anything anymore but I’ve got loads of glamour modelling work – I never thought I’d do it but I’m really enjoying it.”

Keith Cronin and Greg Shinnors were last evening crowned British Rally Champions 2009 bridging a 35 year gap since 1974 when the legendary Billy Coleman was the only other Irish driver to become Champion.
While in Italy Kris Meeke won Rally San Remo and with it the IRC title, well done to both for doing Ireland proud.

2010 Porsche GT3 RS Autobahn shakedown

Manager of High Performance Cars for Porsche, Andreas Preuninger, provides the opportunity to ride shotgun as he took the first produced 2010 Porsche GT3 RS out for a ride on the Autobahn yesterday evening. Due to traffic, he was only able to get the car up to 292kph (181 mph) on the unrestricted A5 Autobahn.
The second half of the video, Andreas tells us what went into the development process for the new GT3 RS and what the car is capable of doing with the new technology and performance upgrades from the previous generation.

The 176th Oktoberfest started on Saturday the 19th, kicked off by Munich Mayor Christian Ude, tapping the first keg with a cry of “O’zapft is!”. With predictions of over 6 million visitors heading to Munich, the festival runs until October 4th. This year, a traditional liter of beer will cost visitors about 8 euros (11.75 dollars). And new this year: Oktoberfest iPhone apps, including a dictionary, ordering assistant and a blood-alcohol calculator.
